Music for the movie "DUST"

Review of the album "HOMEBOUND"- KIRIL DZAJKOVSKI

Equal to the best electronic-music gurus
Written by: Marija Pijanmanova

"Tone Casualties Records" produced a very good electronic piece this year. Kiril's abilities are counted as one of the best from the electronic-music gurus (Cool And Strange Music review).  His new LP "Homebound" is an excellent example of progressive drum & bass, spiced with beautiful Macedonian music, which comes and goes in and out of the acid jazz and the break beat with easiness.

"When I just thought that Kiril's album "Homebound" will be another dub and ethno assemblage of world music instruments, the first track on the album, "Hereafter", goes beneath the surface of dub space and comes into the darkest jungle so to inform the listener of the coming "Primitive Science". "This is the lead from a review of the new album of Kiril Xajkovski -Kikec, "Homebound" published in the second issue of "The Blue Divide" magazine, written by the famous music critic Kiran Adithan who also adds: "- Still mixing the world stiles, while searching in the dark territories, Kiril is keeping the jungle vibe alive, giving impression that this is not a normal place for jungle music.
The steps of "Homebound" traveling are slowing down just a little, enough to feel dub noire of the "Sweet Darkness Of Solitude" theme, before it throws itself back in tech-house/funk guitar combo "Balkan Spy".  Kiril slightly goes off the rhythm of his path with the jazzy "Awalk Through The Craters" and the closing "MateJ".  It is nice to see how the musicians continue to experiment with their music and do not limit themselves to the already set up music styles."

The above text speaks about the positive review of the album "Homebound" released last year.  And not only this critic is positive. The great "Tone Casualties Records", division of Klaski Csupo Inc. from Hollywood that releases mainly experimental electronic sound, ambient, industrial, and drum & bass released the album "Homebound". For the greatness of this record company, it is enough to mention some of the names from the electronic scene: Holger Czukaj (Can) and Dr. Walker (Liquid Sky), and the Hungarians Anima Sound System who play drum n bass.

Kiril started his music career by playing in one of the first electronic-music bands in the Balkans - "Bastion".  In the beginning of the 90's, he started to experiment with electronic music combined with traditional ethno-Macedonian music.  His first signed release is "Synthetic Theatre" which later came out also on vinyl.  Then, there are many live events to follow, in Australia and Macedonia together with the band "Kismet".  He also participates in the project "Aparatchicks" together with Vlada Divljan from the popular band "Idoli' from Belgrade.  In 1999 he plays at "Earthcore", festival of electronic music near Melbourne, Australia. Besides these projects, Kiril also makes music for theatre, film, and TV commercials.  He composes music for the films "Tough Granny" directed by Milco Mancevski, "Marika On An Airplane" and "Northern Mistake" directed by Boris Damovski, and also for TV commercials for Mazda, BMW, Ford and Mastercard.

Last year he released his second album "Homebound" which obviously, is receiving positive critics in the world music media.  The album was chosen to be Album of the Year, according to the Croatian alternative radio station "101" and also The Best Release in former Yugoslavia the same year. Kiril also produced music for the wellknown theatre play "Bure Barut" which this year was playing in "Kerempuh" theatre in Zagreb directed by Aleksandar Popovski.  The single "Primitive Science", dark drum & bass, is re-mixed by Dreadzone and the great tech-house DJs Layo & Buchwacka from UK, which gives a new dub and tech-break dimension.  They opened their DJ set with the song "Primitive Science" on one of the most popular and biggest music festivals, "Pepsi Sziget" in Budapest, Hungary. The Macedonian sky is following yet another real star towards the electronic music scene.
